Biography [ ]

Zane is Garroth's younger brother and older half-brother to Vylad, and is the second-born son of the lord of O'Khasis. He is the High Priest of the Faith of Lady Irene, and has a large influence on many villages and people due to his title. However, Zane was never really seen as a kind person like a proper priest due to the multiple times he has tricked people.

According to Garroth, Zane had been exhibiting personality issues as a child even before their father's influence. However, with their father's influence, Zane only became more corrupt and manipulative as he got older.

At some point early on, Zane became the High Priest; according to him, the title took many years of dedicated study. He was not loyal to Ladyr at all, as he only had interest in the power she held and how to obtain it for himself. Even further so, he committed acts as if he were working with Shadow Knights, even later turning someone into an actual Shadow Knight. At some point, he was also placed as the leader of the Jury of Nine, an originally peace-keeping group who he corrupted and manipulated into doing evil acts.

He appeared first at Donna and Logan's wedding when he married them in Phoenix Drop. At the reception, he gave Kiki a pendant that, when pricked with the blood of a male and a female, would create a child. This did produce a daughter born of Kiki's blood, but in S2, it is discovered that Leona, the daughter, is a werewolf and that the pendant only needs male and female blood to produce a werewolf child. This pendant also cursed Kiki, making her weak and sick, further proof that Zane was untrustworthy. At the reception, Garroth shows up and, though he had earlier refused to show his face at the event, he shows up without his helmet and asks Aphmau to dance. However, after the reception, Garroth and Aphmau are talking when Zane shows up. He explains that he is Garroth's younger brother and that their father is currently looking for Garroth to wed him with the daughter of the lord of Scaleswind. Zane stayed in Phoenix Drop for a week after the wedding, which unnerved Aphmau, and refused to let anyone into Brendan's farmhouse, which he had commandeered for himself and his guards.

At the baby shower, he gave Alexis an enchanted necklace, which he later used to perform a ritual in the plaza, temporarily turning Alexis into a Shadow Knight. After the effects had worn off and Zane had fled, Alexis remained an adult in an indefinite sleep, though she was no longer a Shadow Knight.

While Aphmau was on the journey where she found Nicole, Dante and the others, one of the O'Khasis guards that were in Bright Port said that Zane was planning to marry Aphmau, since her 'fiancé' Laurence had been "eaten by werewolves." This may have just been a plot to help keep Aphmau in Bright Port, or he may have actually been trying to marry her, possibly to take control of Phoenix Drop somehow. One of the guards also states that Lord Garte was mad at Zane for messing up his engagement with the daughter of Lord Luke of Pikoro, later revealed to be Lucinda.

Afterward, he captured Lord Burt and Lord Luke to sacrifice them to the Shadow King. Then, when Jeffory the Golden Heart betrays him in favor of doing the right thing, Zane stabs him in the back (literally) and talks to his spy in Phoenix Drop (Brian, or known as Velius). He frames Phoenix Drop for the murder and sends Katelyn the Fire Fist to investigate, but she knew what actually happened and allied with Phoenix Drop. Later, Zane leads the Lord of Scaleswind to Phoenix Drop to find Nicole, who he told Brian to kidnap so he could once again frame the village. He causes the villages to go to war. Afterward, his guards attack Phoenix Drop and burn down Meteli. So after the war, Aphmau finds Laurance, who was knocked out and claims that Garroth has the amulet. In the woods, Aphmau sees Garroth giving the amulet to Zane, and she is terrified and shocked at his betrayal.

Laurance yells to Zane that he has Garroth under some spell. He moves to attack Zane when Garroth and Laurance battle. Garroth took Katelyn's Title of the Jury and Garroth replaces her as a member of the Jury of Nine. Katelyn's magicks were also taken away by Zane. Then Zane teleports everyone (the ones that are surrounding the amulet) to the Irene Dimension and is about to take Irene's Relic to fuse with his own relic of Esmund, but then it vanishes and absorbs into Aphmau. Realizing she is Irene without saying it, Zane turns into an unknown black demon or shadow form in the 100th episode and tries to kill Aphmau to claim his prize from her corpse.

Zane was about to kill Aphmau, but then the stranger (Aaron) holds off the sword in Zane's hand. Then Zane knocks Aaron to the floor, holding his sword to the top of his head, swinging down about to cut when Garroth stops the sword blocking Aphmau and says he was blinded by Zane's evilness. Suddenly, a portal shows up, and Zoey appears. But then taking no chances they escape, before that happened, Garroth tells Aphmau his feelings for her; despite saying that he loves her, he believes that he is not worthy to be with Aphmau due to betraying her, regardless of Zane's influence. They are forced to leave and Garroth and Zane stay back fighting in the end. Hopefully, they can get back into the Irene dimension safely without sacrificing anyone's immortality or life.

In Season 2, Zane was revealed to have been the person who caused the deaths of the population of Falcon Claw, but with the old lord Aaron Lycan the only one to survive the genocide. It is revealed he has no remorse for his actions, and claims that he takes great pleasure in committing mass murder. Since no actual reason was given, it can be assumed he did it out of pleasure.

In episode 81, Zane is killed along with Aaron in a blast from an unknown object, in Aaron's attempt to bring back Garroth and protect his new family. Unfortunately, he is about to kill Garroth just when Aaron interrupts, so the latter stops him just in time.

Moments after their death, Shad, aka the Shadow Lord, meets the two in Limbo. Since Aaron is a descendant of Shad, his body was perfect for Shad to possess and regain his physical form. Noticing an opportunity to save his own life and get stronger, Zane demands that Shad make him a Shadow Knight. Shad questions him at first, but Zane tells him that he can lead him to Irene. Now knowing that Irene is no longer dormant in her own dimension and finally having the chance to get revenge, Shad accepts Zane's offer.

Unfortunately for Zane, when Shad brought him to the Nether to make him a Shadow Knight, he was noticed by dozens, if not, hundreds of people he tortured and slaughtered, who also became Shadow Knights. They made sure Zane was tortured beyond necessity and made sure he was awake for every moment to get back at him for all the suffering he caused. He blames Shad for the torture he went through and escaped before he could be an empty shell of his former self. He stole a piece of Shad's essence as both an act of vengeance and a way to make him stronger, before fleeing the fortress with many Shadow Knights now hunting him down.

In Season 3, Zane returns to the Overworld as he announces that he is now a Shadow Knight. Without breaking a sweat, he defeats all of Lady Katelyn's guards. Katelyn steps in herself, with Zane being cocky and reminding her that he had taken away her powers. He was easily overpowered by Katelyn and Shad's essence fell out of his grasp. He is later on taken to Phoenix Drop and presented to Aphmau, being beyond shocked just by the sight of him due to surviving his apparent death.

He is put in Phoenix Drop's jailhouse and refuses to say anything. It wasn't until Aphmau threatened to destroy the fragment Zane had that he started to talk. Aphmau demanded to know the fate of Aaron, with Zane telling her that the Aaron he knew was gone but his body was still intact, with the Shadow Lord claiming it as his own.

Later, he is met by his brother Garroth, who tells him that he will guide him, Aphmau, and Katelyn through the Nether to find Shad and Laurance. When he refuses, Garroth shows him the fragment. Zane tells him not to destroy it or it will return to "him". Garroth begins to slowly crush it until Zane gives in.

During the trip through to the Nether, Zane asks for his cuffs to be removed. When the group refused, he baited them in doing so by saying he can't guide them through the Nether if he is restrained. During the encounter with Gene and the Shadow Lord, he takes the opportunity to flee back to the Overworld. Guards question him about where the others were and decide to make a break for it.

In episode 6, he arrived at Phoenix Drop hoping to find his relic, where he overhears some villagers talk to Dante about Lady Irene's return and, after seeing a villager walking by with a similar appearance, he used his powers to imitate that villager's appearance. He later met Brendan in hopes of getting info, but was annoyed by his lack of any, and was sniffed by Leona at the stalls, almost blowing his cover. He later overhears Donna talking to Kenmur who brought up about Emmalyn researching about Shad's relic and her love of talking about Irene. He later went to her house to talk about how he's devoted to Lady Irene and was hoping Emmalyn can share info. Later, at the end of the episode, he kidnapped her.

In a cave, he demands information from her about the relic, saying knowledge is greater than power. After she refused, Zane threatened that Emmalyn can either leave but he'll kill Kenmur, or have her stay and give him. Emmalyn chose the latter, but annoys him with questions about death, rebirth as a Shadow Knight, his new armor, and the portal. Extremely annoyed by the number of questions, he mutters that nosy scholars should be killed before being questioned by Emmalyn again. He yells at her to shut up and is frustrated.

In episode 8, he later sensed Gene's attack on the Phoenix Drop Capital while forcing Emmalyn to research, though he was unaware that Gene was looking for him.

In episode 23, after yelling at Emmalyn for dozing off, Zane had a flashback where he was tortured in the Nether by a Shadow Knight before meeting Shad in limbo, who said that he was special, which is why he resurrected him. Zane was angry for what Shad did, but promised that he'll find Irene as he knows she has returned. He then sensed someone coming to the cave and attacked the Shadow Knights who have arrived to kill him nearby. In an act of desperation, he told Emmalyn to run while he burns the books to cover his tracks from Shad, taking the fragment before he left.

They then found a village, with Zane thinking of it as a way to bribe Emmalyn. To hide, he morphed his appearance and claimed himself to be Emmalyn's husband. They first find two boys, with Zane telling Emmalyn that he will burn the entire village if she says anything. The boys then led them to their parents' house, making Zane annoyed when they realized no one was home. He and Emmalyn then rented a room in one of the buildings and heard of a library. Because guards from Tu'la wouldn't let anyone enter, they snuck in at dusk.

In the library, Zane realized in great agitation that Emmalyn wasn't looking for what he asked for the entire time and instead focused on side-subjects. His patience was finally depleted after Emmalyn made conversation with a granny who was the owner of the library. Zane went up to Emmalyn and threatened her. She said that he can't kill her since he would lose his chance of learning more about the Shadow Lord. He agrees with her but says he can still make her life a living hell. He then drew his sword and sliced open Emmalyn's cheek. With Emmalyn in great pain and horror, Zane started to tell her a story of when he was looking for Irene's relic and that he had scholars that worked for him. He went on saying that he knew how to encourage them if they slacked off. He then slashed his sword against her right arm and told her she had one hour to find something he's looking for or someone will die.

Emmalyn managed to find something less than an hour later. Zane got furious when he noticed it was an incarnation spell, saying that the information was useless. The grandmother then returned with cookies. Deciding to break his word, he went up to the grandmother and killed her. Drowning in emotions, Emmalyn screamed that she did nothing to him, with Zane saying she was more useful being dead than alive. As Emmalyn declared Zane a monster, he grabbed the cookies and walked up to Emmalyn, reminding her that he is Zane Ro'Meave. He is then seen mocking the granny's death by eating her cookies and telling Emmalyn she had to try some. With Emmalyn talking back, he noticed that she still found nothing and decided that she needed more encouragement. Despite her pleas, he went off to start his wrath by killing the guards in front of the library while making Emmalyn accountable for his actions. Not long after killing the guards, it is revealed that he wasn't entirely truthful to Emmalyn as the entire village is seen on fire just as Dante and Kenmur arrived.

He is shown taking pure joy out of breaking his word, saying he hasn't killed these many people since Falconclaw. Meanwhile, Emmalyn finally found something about Zane's fragment and was about to show it to him hoping she could save the town, only to find that it was too late. Emmalyn said that no one in the town did anything to stop him, but Zane replied that she could've saved them if she gave him what he wanted, saying their death was on her hands. Emmalyn slaps Zane and calls him a monster, with Zane kicking her in the stomach and telling her she needed more motivation, wondering if there was anyone left to kill. She then questions his actions, if it was to prove his insanity or he is upset about his relic being taken from him by force. He attacked Emmalyn before she finished talking.

Dante and Kenmur finally arrived, with Zane not remembering Dante at first, but then does so in a mocking fashion. Seeing what Zane had done, they demanded Zane to let Emmalyn go, with Zane telling them that her life belongs to him. When they questioned him about what he wants, he told them to leave. Dante told him that it was his job as a guard to protect those who can't defend themselves and that he is where he needs to be. With this, Zane teleports in front of Dane and knocks him down. Kenmur tries to help but he is taken down easily. Dante then fights back but is eventually outmatched. With Emmalyn telling him to stop, possibly trying to tell him about the information so he could spare them, he threatens to cut her again. Kenmur then grabs a sword and charges at Zane, only for his bravery to be in vain as Zane fatally wounded him. Emmalyn is heartbroken and laments at his corpse.

Out of nowhere, Lucinda then arrived to put an end to Zane's wrath, with her even casting an explosive projectile at Zane to show how serious she is. A confused and scared child then appears and asks where his grandmother is. Zane quickly uses him as a hostage while also giving him remorse over his grandmother's death. Emmalyn then explains what she was going to tell him, that she found out the fragment he had was an essence. Zane lets the child go, being pleased that he got what he needed and was able to punish Emmalyn. Knowing that he can't take on Dante and Lucinda on his own, he tells Emmalyn that they need to go. Dante and Lucinda told her not to go with him, but Emmalyn explains that Zane already took everything from her and more people would die if she didn't listen to him. Emmalyn told them to not go after her as they both teleport away.

Zane's energy was drained from teleporting but remembered that Emmalyn managed to find something he was looking for. He turned to Emmalyn and saw her crying in pain over the loss of Kenmur. Zane questions if he was her boyfriend or even her husband. With Emmalyn continuing to cry, he takes the second as a yes. Wanting her to immediately snap out of it, he demands that she tell him what she found. Zane then realizes that he can use her loss as a way to manipulate her into being fully loyal to him. He then decides to rest to regain his strength but tells Emmalyn that she better not take this as an opportunity to escape.

While resting, he overheard Emmalyn muttering about the possibility Kenmur will be alive as a Shadow Knight. Zane explains how people that Shad deems as worthy are chosen to be resurrected as Shadow Knights, and often, lords, elite guards or generally those that are extremely powerful are chosen to join the army and that Kenmur won't come back as a mindless zombie. He explains how he was stuck with Aaron, the lord of Falconclaw, the village that he easily defeated, in limbo and was chosen by Shad because he knew information about Irene while Aaron was stuck as his physical vessel. Emmalyn questioned about why Aaron died with him and Zane explained that Aaron sacrificed his life to remove a relic that belonged to Esmund. He explained how removing a relic involves the one removing it to sacrifice their own life to kill the one holding the relic and Aaron happened to be the one to kill him.

Emmalyn then got angry at how Aaron was killed to stop him and later murdered Kenmur and how he and Aphmau were connected and helped the two research about Irene. Zane was very surprised that Aphmau was involved with the research and ordered Emmalyn to finish mourning Kenmur's death and tell him the information before sunrise or else he'll kill more people and went to sleep.

When he woke up, however, Emmalyn had already escaped during the night with the fragment. Enraged, he heads off to look for her. He runs into a group of thugs harassing a girl, but doesn't bother to help her. It wasn't until the thugs showed interest in Zane's armor that he slaughtered them. As the girl thanked him, he killed her as well, claiming her to not be worth his time.

Side Story: Beach

He wrecks the group's carriage and takes over the good beach spot first. Garroth and Zane set up a mini-game of beach jousting, and the winner would get the good beach spot. Aphmau beat Zane's guard, and they got the spot. Zane then said, "Whatever, this spot sucks anyway. Let's go somewhere cooler, guards!"

Side Story: Theme Park [ ]

He's not above dressing up as a girl and doing obnoxious things. He dressed up as a girl and joined the girl's fashion competition as 'Zanerina.' He also tossed a second fish at Garroth which made all of the cats go to him earlier after Garroth made the cats go to Laurance. Aphmau was rather amused at these events. "I do not know what you are talking about, my name is Zanerina, NOW GET OUT OF MY FACE." Also, he was wearing a bikini. A "breathtaking, stunning" bikini.

Side Story: Slumber Party [ ]

It has been said that some of the ladies in Phoenix Drop do think that he is cute, but all agree that he is evil, and would still kill him without a second thought. This is non-canon, so we do not really know if this is true. He was prank called at the boy's slumber party. He also apparently is a brony and says ponies are the pure essence of evil (just like him!) and would be perfect for his army when he attacks the boy/girl slumber party. "Ponies, commence PARTY ATTACK!"

The Big Move [ ]

In the Finale episode of The Big Move, Garroth calls Zane. Zane is seen playing with MLP toys on a table. Garroth asks Zane whether he'd like to move into a new house with him and Laurence, but Zane refuses. After hanging up, he continues to play with the three ponies shown on his desk.

Appearance [ ]

Zane Corrupted.png

Zane has black hair and pale blue eyes. His black hair covers one of his eyes, which was announced in Pixel Painters to be a blind eye. He wears a primarily white outfit with black markings, a white cape with a black cross on the back, black gloves, a black cross necklace and a mask that has a cross on it.

When he first appears at Donna and Logan's wedding, he wears a white outfit with a white hood and gold markings that obscure most of his face, a brown belt, and gold shoes.

When he becomes corrupted his skin becomes black and his eyes pure white. His outfit darkens and becomes tattered. He starts to emit black particles as well.

In Season 3 Zane is a shadow knight and has shadow knight armor instead of his former clothing.

Personality [ ]

Zane is known for his lack of humanity and compassion. He may seem well-mannered, though he has temper issues. Zane is mostly grumpy, though at times he can show emotion other than anger, revenge, and hatred. Zane is so corrupt that he used shadow knight-based tactics and rituals before even becoming a shadow knight himself.

He takes great pleasure in murder as if it were a sport, even more so when he gets to slaughter an entire population. He shows no good reason to kill other than for revenge, torture, discipline, or fun. He'll even break his own word if it meant he could burn down an entire village. If he needs a person alive, instead of killing them, he'll make their life a living hell and kill them when they are no longer any use to him.

He has a noticeable greed for power, with him obviously plotting to possess all six relics at once since he already had Esmund's relic in season 1 and was looking for Irene's relic. He also stole essence from Shad to increase his power as a shadow knight.

Zane enjoys torturing his enemies to the point of bringing them hell on Earth. He sees what his enemies care for as insects to stomp on. He will strike where it hurts the most and would even 'beat a dead horse' right in front of the people he is torturing.

Keeping his end of a deal is something that annoys him, with him rather getting both ends of a deal or even getting a bonus. His impatient personality doesn't help either. This is highly emphasized when he left Aphmau and the group in the Nether and returned to Phoenix Drop to reclaim his fragment, kidnapping Emmalyn at the same time as a bonus. This is also shown when he burned down a village he was holding hostage just as Emmalyn found what he was looking for.

Trivia [ ]

  • Although not a common thought, a few fans theorize that Zane is under a spell or was possessed, explaining his extreme strength and unknown form, but besides that, nothing points to this theory.
    • This is almost upsetting because if you think about it, Zane could've been a so much better person if he didn't turn. Even if he still was reclusive, he could've been a big help.
    • However, he currently is corrupt, evil, and demonic, despite the fact that he is a great character. Not to mention he is currently a shadow knight.
  • The name Zane has been attributed to several countries. In Hebrew, the name means "Gift from God", and since Zane is a priest, this name could be considered rather fitting, though as he is a villain, it can also be considered to be ironic.
    • The name can also be traced back to Arabic origins, where it used as a unisex name. When used for a boy, the Arabic meaning of the name is "Good", while in the case of a girl, it means "Beautiful".
  • Side stories show that Zane is a brony, a male fan of My Little Pony.
  • It is revealed in Episode 44 of Season Two that Vylad is the uterine sibling (also known as a maternal half-sibling) of Zane and Garroth. This means that Vylad has the same mother (Lady Zianna) as they do, but a different father.
  • His voice actor is LucariosKlaw.
  • Zane and Aphmau are the same age.
  • Zane is blind in his right eye.
  • Zane is not afraid to kill children.
  • After Beach Vacation Side Stories, Zane was voiced by LucariosKlaw continuously until MyStreet Ep.13 where he was used with a normal dialog without a voice.
  • Zane, as well as Aaron, apparently died in the explosion when Aaron removed his relic by force. Shad met them in Limbo and took control over Aaron's body. Zane begged him to make him a shadow knight, claiming to know where Irene is.
  • It is possible that Zane can reform himself and become a good guy because there are events that show suggests a change in character, but we can't be too sure.
    • This was proven false as he started to physically and emotionally torture Emmalyn by making her bleed and killing an innocent grandmother right in front of her.
